One excavator produced every 10 minutes—Chinese manufacturing is truly impressive, with over 20 countries in Europe and the U.S. scrambling to buy them

As the world’s factory, just how impressive is “Made in China” today? A tractor can be produced every 10 minutes on average, and these machines are exported to more than 20 countries in Europe and the United States, because Chinese excavators not only deliver powerful performance but are also very affordable.
China’s current manufacturing capabilities are such that even the United States at full production capacity during World War II would likely struggle to keep up. Back then, to supply more resources to its allies, the U.S. was able to launch a 10,000-ton warship every 48 hours and send a bomber into the air every two hours. Today, China produces an excavator every 10 minutes—a pace that is even faster than that of the U.S. Do not assume that excavators are easy to produce; they involve a variety of complex technologies, and the manufacturing difficulty is by no means any easier than that of World War II-era bombers. In the excavator sector, China once had to import key equipment from abroad just to complete production.
So why has China’s excavator industry advanced so rapidly? This is primarily due to the rapid development of domestic infrastructure. The construction process requires a large number of excavators, which has directly created a vast market for domestic companies. For example, Liugong, Sany Heavy Industry, Zoomlion, and XCMG are all well-known excavator manufacturers both at home and abroad. At the same time, these companies are actively pursuing technological innovation to overcome technical shortcomings and further enhance the localization of excavators. Additionally, as China’s infrastructure projects continue to expand overseas, domestically produced construction machinery naturally follows suit. This has left a positive impression on host countries, leading many nations to prefer purchasing Chinese excavators.
