What is the smallest excavator?

2026-03-14 Visits:

In recent years, we have frequently seen compact and agile mini excavators at work on municipal roads, in landscaping projects, and other similar settings. In tasks such as clearing drainage pipes, digging ditches, and excavating tree pits, they are gradually replacing heavy manual labor and becoming the new choice for users. Micro excavators, also known as mini excavators, are generally machines weighing less than 6 tons and are primarily used in small-scale operations such as municipal landscaping and agricultural water conservancy. So, how many tons does the world’s smallest excavator weigh? What is its purpose?

According to my research, the world’s smallest excavator weighs 0.1 tons. It is the PC01 model, manufactured by Komatsu Ltd. (commonly known as the Komatsu Group). Unlike standard excavators that run on diesel or natural gas, this model is powered by gasoline. It has a fuel tank capacity of just 4.5 liters and a total weight of only 300 kilograms. This excavator is a limited-edition collector’s model, with only 700 units produced worldwide, and a price tag of 120,000 yuan per unit. Let’s take a look at the performance of this world’s smallest excavator.
